How Do You Check Your Madeira Hiking Permit Before You Hike?
Your permit is ready once the government fee is paid and you have the permit: Simplifica emails it after payment or, with a Verified Permit, you reveal it in My Passes on madeira.fun. Check the trail, date and start time on it, keep it on your phone, and carry it on the trail: you must be able to show proof of payment when asked.
If madeira.fun booked it for you: we submit the reservation on the government system and email you the government's PayPay payment link. Pay it before the deadline in that email, or the reservation lapses. After you pay, Simplifica emails the permit and receipt to the email address on the reservation (unless you chose a Verified Permit, below), and My Passes shows the reservation as paid once the payment is confirmed.
With a Verified Permit, the government sends the permit to madeira.fun instead of your inbox. We check it against your booking, email you once it is verified, and keep it hidden until you reveal it in My Passes. When you reveal it, save it or add it to your Wallet: we delete the stored permit 30 days after the hike.
If you booked on Simplifica yourself: pay with the PayPay link before the deadline, which is 24 hours after booking, or sooner for a hike the same day. After you pay, Simplifica emails your permit and receipt. Check the trail code, date and start time, and save the PDF on your phone before you lose signal. Book with an email address you can read: Apple Hide My Email addresses do not receive the government's emails.
Start at your booked time: you cannot begin before it. If a Simplifica email says a reservation was cancelled, compare its reference number with the one on your permit and receipt. A different number means it is about an earlier attempt that was never completed; if the numbers match, contact IFCN at helpdesk.ifcn@madeira.gov.pt.
